Shoulder screws are screws that usually consist of a head and a thread. However, unlike typical screws they also consist of an additional unthreaded “shoulder” in between. The shoulder has a larger diameter than the thread and has a very low tolerance which helps with the precise alignment of moving parts; the shoulder screw acts as both a fastener and a dowel/axel/guide.
If your assemblies demand accuracy, reliability, and components that simply don’t fail, you’re in the right place. Automotion Components manufactures one of the UK’s most advanced ranges of precision engineered shoulder screws — built for engineers who refuse to settle for generic hardware.
These aren’t “just screws.” They’re alignment tools, pivot points, precision guides, and load bearing components designed to outperform anything in their class.

See all steel shoulder bolts here - we manufacture these in construction grade 8.8 steel and high tensile grades 10.9 and 12.9 steel. Protective finishes and special sizes can be manufactured on request.
Stainless shoulder bolts available in small, standard and long sizes.
They are produced to ISO 7379 standards.
Thread sizes from Ø4 M3 to Ø24 M20.
We manufacture special shoulder screws to customer drawings with a minimum batch size.
We have three different grades of stainless steel shoulder screws:
Our are standard grade of stainless. They are strong and resistant to corrosion but not to very harsh environments such as salt water.

For standard sizes Ø6 M5 up to Ø16 M12, see our part no P0137. For miniature sizes down to Ø4 M3 see parts numbers P0130 and P0132.
These are made from harder stainless steel with improved shear strengths, but the parts are more prone to corrosion (see part no. P0131 and P0133).

These shoulder screws (P0143) are very resistant to corrosion but are considerably more expensive than other stainless versions.

Our shoulder screws are machined to tight tolerances that expose weaknesses in lesser components. If you want perfect alignment, smooth motion, and zero slop — this is where you get it.
Choose from:
Every material is selected for strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance. No shortcuts.
Cap head, countersunk, pan head, slotted, TX drive, ultra low head, vented, imperial, metric — if it exists, we stock it. If it doesn’t, we manufacture it.
Our components are produced in the south of England with full traceability and compliance. Stocked items ship fast — because downtime is expensive and waiting weeks for parts is unacceptable.
If your design needs something unique, we’ll make it. Special shoulders, custom heads, unusual lengths, exotic materials — our production machines handle it all.
