Linear Guides
Most of our linear guides are held in stock for immediate despatch.
Rails are typically stocked in 3 metre lengths, which we then cut to your required length on the same day.
We use UPS for sending rail lengths up to 3 metres (typically on a next day delivery).
Generally linear rails are selected based on the load to be carried. We recommend starting by looking at the carriage specifications and whether you want flanged or un-flanged carriages.
Move on to select the relevant rail width and length.
Carriages are not pre-installed on rails when we deliver them, they are supplied on a "dummy block". To install the carriages on the rail, offer up the carriage to the rail, then slide from the dummy block onto the rail. Do not simply remove the carriages from the dummy block (as the ball bearings may come loose).
We have a large warehouse with automated stock parts storage, as well as a rail cutting facility.
We hold a large amount of stock and aim to despatch your orders on the same day. We recognise that sometimes the parts will not be in stock - and if this is the case then typically lead time is 7-10 days, but this may be extended for some parts.
We are able to supply parts on a short lead times by cross referencing parts and offering our nearest equivalents. Cross referencing is often quite difficult (we are happy to do this - please just let us know the required part numbers of the current supplier).
To make things easier we have most of our linear rail systems available in 3D cad format for customers to check. Typical manufacturers we can cross reference from include: THK, IKO, SKF, Schneeberger etc.
If you are unsure of which linear rail parts to select then please phone or email us and we will come back to you promptly.

Linear Guideways - Order on-line!
We stock most sizes of linear guideways for immediate dispatch. When selecting the guideway required, the standard approach is to calculate the load to be carried and any moment loads. Then have a look at the loads that apply to the rail carriages. Divide the load by the intended number of carriages - typically 2 per rail, but more carriages of course increases the load that can be carried - so often there is a trade of between rail size and the number of carriages.
- Rail sizes are 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 55mm. The rails are supplied in any length up to 4 metres in a single piece.
Miniature Linear Guideways - Order on-line!
These are miniature versions of the linear rails above - in sizes from 7, 9, 12 and 15mm. Rail lengths of a maximum of 1 metre. They are made from hardened stainless steel and we stock most of these rails and carriages.
- There are two types of rails - the standard width and the wide versions - this affects the load carrying capacity.
- Generally the rails are supplied in any length, but typically as a multiple of the rail hole pitch.
Easy to Install rails - In stock for immediate dispatch!
Often engineers specify linear recirculating ball guideways when these are sometimes not the most appropriate rail solution for the application. Thesetypically have to be very precisely aligned and this can be expensive and can lead to stiction if the alignment is not correct.
Our compact rail system is far easier to install system. It comes in 5 different sizes 18, 28, 35, 43 and 63mm.
There are a number of siginificant advantages - the main one being it's ability to cope with misalignment by using a master rail (T type) and a slave rail (U type).
Inexpensive rail systems - In stock for immediate dispatch
Our X rail system is an inexpensive rail solution for loads where there is not a high need for system accuracy and where moment loads are not too high. The system is very robust and comes in three sizes 20, 30 and 45mm and standard lengths of 1 2 and 3 metres.
The carriages run smoothly and this can be adjusted by the eccentric bearing in the middle of each slider. It has a master (T rail) and a slave (U rail) optionto allow for possible system misalignment.
Stainless Steel Linear Rail System - Order on line!
Our stainless steel linear rail system (a 316L stainless steel version of the X rail), is very popular for washdown, pharmaceutical, food and other packaging applications.
The bearings have 2RS seals (protecting them from moisture and water) and again comes in three sizes 20, 30 and 45mm and standard lengths of 1, 2 and 3 metres.
The sliders run smoothly and this can be adjusted by the eccentric bearing in the middle of each slider. It has a master (T rail) and slave (U rail) option to allow for possible system misalignment.
